Sonic Youth Former Band Members Set to Reunite for Tribute Tour
In a surprise move, former Sonic Youth band members Thurston Moore, Kim Gordon, Lee Ranaldo, and Steve Shelley have announced plans to reunite for a tribute tour. The tour, dubbed “Sonic Youth: Revisited”, will celebrate the band’s iconic discography and legacy.
A Celebration of Sonic Youth’s 40th Anniversary
The reunion tour is a celebration of Sonic Youth’s 40th anniversary, and will feature a selection of the band’s greatest hits, including “Bull in the Heather”, “Sugar Kane”, and “Teen Age Riot”. The tour will also include deep cuts and fan favorites, showcasing the band’s eclectic and influential sound.
Thurston Moore on the Reunion
“We’re excited to get back together and play some of our favorite songs for our fans,” said Thurston Moore, Sonic Youth’s guitarist and vocalist. “It’s been a while since we’ve played together, but the chemistry is still there.”
Kim Gordon on the Reunion

Tour Dates:
The “Sonic Youth: Revisited” tour will kick off on September 15, 2025, in New York City and will make stops in major cities across North America and Europe. Tickets will go on sale on May 1, 2025.
Special Guest Appearances
The tour will also feature special guest appearances by other notable musicians, including Mike Watt, Dinosaur Jr.’s J Mascis, and My Bloody Valentine’s Kevin Shields.
