Meghan Markle laments her beloved rescue dog, calling him “my sweet guy.”

Meghan Markle shared a deeply emotional post on January 7, 2025, mourning the loss of her beloved dog, Guy. In her heartfelt message, she described the intense grief she felt, expressing that the tears she shed were the kind that make you hope, in vain, the water would somehow make you feel better. She thanked Guy for many years of unconditional love, remembering how he was by her side throughout significant moments in her life, including during her time on Suits, her engagement to Prince Harry, and even their royal wedding. Guy was adopted from a rescue in Canada in 2015 and had been a loyal companion ever since. Meghan shared that she had named him Guy after he was referred to as “the little guy” at the shelter, a name that perfectly suited him.

Though many people expressed sympathy and offered their condolences, a piece in The Daily Mail took a more critical stance, mixing empathy with disdain for Meghan’s public persona, focusing on her appearance and recent projects. Despite this, it’s clear that for Meghan, the loss of Guy is a deeply personal one, and her grief is a reminder that, no matter her fame, she is still a person experiencing the pain of losing a cherished companion.

Meghan also has two other rescue dogs, Mamma Mia and Pula, who are likely providing her some comfort during this difficult time.
