Seth Rollins was envious of the current WWE star’s preferential treatment by the organization: “I wanted to be that person”

Seth Rollins recently opened up about his feelings on Cody Rhodes winning the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 40. Despite being happy for his long-time rival-turned-ally, Rollins admitted to experiencing a sense of jealousy. In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Rollins expressed how Rhodes received special treatment, much like Roman Reigns had in recent years, and how he had always wanted to be in that top spot himself. Rollins reflected on his journey and the fact that, despite his talent, he had never been treated as the top guy in WWE in the way that Reigns and Rhodes were.

Rollins’ comments shed light on the complicated feelings he has towards his own WWE career, which has seen him consistently perform at a high level but never be fully positioned as the company’s central figure. He felt a mixture of joy for Rhodes’ success and frustration that he was never afforded the same treatment by WWE executives.

Cody Rhodes, for his part, shared a deep bond with Rollins, especially after their intense Hell in a Cell match in 2022. Despite their rivalry, Rhodes has expressed his admiration and love for Rollins, even recounting a moment during WrestleMania 40 when his bus caught fire, and Rollins was the first person he sought help from.

It will be intriguing to see if Rollins and Rhodes continue to share a close alliance or if their rivalry will reignite down the road.
