Posted on July 11, 2025 by sportsmars60@gmail.com
New signings Liam Delap and Dario Essugo are among those who have made their debuts during this tournament

Chelsea contest the 2025 FIFA World Club Cup final at MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey on Sunday. Kick-off is 3pm local time, 8pm UK time.

The 82,500-capacity stadium currently hosts the NFL’s New York Giants and New York Jets and has been chosen to host next year’s World Cup final.

Chelsea vs PSG head-to-head record

Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain meet for the first time since PSG’s 4-2 aggregate win in the 2015/16 Champions League last 16. Before that, Chelsea had only one loss in six matches against the French side (two wins, three draws).

This will be the first major international final contested between teams from England and France.

Chelsea stats ahead of PSG

Chelsea are playing back-to-back matches at the 82,500-capacity MetLife Stadium. The attendance for our semi-final was 70,556.

The Blues have reached our 30th major cup final since 1997 and gone on to win 18 of the previous 29.

Only Real Madrid (five) and Barcelona (four) have reached the FIFA Club World Cup final more times than Chelsea (three).

As the Club World Cup begins in June, club statistics from the competition are being categorised as part of our 2024/25 season.

This is our 64th and final match of the 2024/25 season, which started on 18 August 2024 against Manchester City. By the end of Sunday’s game, we will have faced teams from 17 countries across five competitions over 330 days. We have only played more games in one other season: 69 in 2012/13.

Chelsea have won our past five international finals (excluding Super Cups) since 2013, including a 4-1 victory over Real Betis in this year’s UEFA Conference League. Our last loss in such a match was a 1-0 defeat to Corinthians in the 2012 Club World Cup.

Chelsea have won 13 of the past 15 matches in all competitions, losing only at Newcastle and to Flamengo (both times finishing with 10 players), and recorded seven clean sheets during this period.

Enzo Maresca has used a club-record 45 players this season, nine more than the previous record of 36 set in 2023/24.

Chelsea’s last 10 goals in this year’s competition (excluding own goals) have been scored by nine different players.

The Blues are seeking our 41st win of the season, which would make it our third-highest number of wins in a single campaign, following the 2004/05 and 2006/07 seasons (both with 42 wins).

Chelsea have the tournament’s second youngest average starting XI, with an average age of 24 years and 184 days, surpassed only by Red Bull Salzburg whose squad averages 22 years and 361 days.

Joao Pedro, who had not scored from outside the box in his previous 70 games with Brighton, scored from outside the penalty area 18 minutes into his first start for Chelsea.
