Manchester City is reportedly planning to make a €50 million offer for a Serie A player that Real Madrid wants.

Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders in the upcoming winter transfer window, according to Fichajes. The 26-year-old Dutch midfielder has been on the radar of several top clubs, including Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur, following his strong performances at Milan. The Rossoneri, however, are keen to secure him to a new contract to ward off interest from suitors.

City, currently enduring a difficult season with just one win in their last 11 matches, are looking to bolster their midfield after the long-term injury to Rodri. Reijnders’ dynamism, work rate, and versatility make him an appealing target for Manchester City, as his attributes could help fill the void left by the absence of their key midfielder. City are currently in fifth place in the Premier League, nine points behind leaders Liverpool, and their form in the Champions League has been underwhelming as well.

Real Madrid are also reportedly eyeing Reijnders, although their midfield is already stacked with talent, including Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Luka Modric. However, Reijnders’ energetic and all-around game could offer something unique to Madrid’s midfield as they continue their pursuit of the La Liga title.

In a separate piece of news, former German international Lothar Matthaus has advised Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz to stay at the club until the 2026 World Cup, despite interest from top clubs like Manchester City and Real Madrid. Matthaus emphasized the stability and protection Wirtz enjoys at Leverkusen, which could be beneficial for his development ahead of the World Cup. Wirtz has been in sensational form this season, with 11 goals and five assists in 24 appearances, and is considered a potential future star. Should he leave, he could be a good fit at either Manchester City, where he could eventually replace Kevin De Bruyne, or Real Madrid, though the latter’s attacking options could make his role there more uncertain.
