The New York Giants caught a break, and their best offensive player will be on the field to start training camp.
Wide receiver Malik Nabers was limited during offseason activities, but according to his head coach, the emerging star is ready to roll.
“Giants head coach Brian Daboll confirms WR Malik Nabers will be on the field participating fully in today’s practice. Nabers was limited this spring with a lingering toe injury,” Madelyn Burke of MSG Network wrote on X.
Nabers was sidelined through the entirety of the Giants’ OTAs and mandatory minicamp.
He was dealing with a toe injury that reportedly had been bothering him since his final season in college.
Nabers reportedly re-aggravated the injury last season, and while he could play through it, the team chose to err on the side of caution this offseason.
Daboll was always optimistic about Nabers’ availability for training camp, but fans continued to hold their breath.
Nabers was the only positive aspect of the Giants’ offense last season.
He made 109 receptions for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns as a rookie, and that’s despite having one of the worst quarterback situations in the league.
Four quarterbacks played for the Giants last season, yet Nabers dominated regardless.
He was among the best wide receivers in the league and had the second-most receiving yards among rookies.
He was also the first Giants pass catcher to surpass 800 receiving yards since Odell Beckham Jr. did so in 2018, and with an improved quarterback situation, he should be even better in his second season.
