Cynthia Erivo reveals her next dream role as an iconic Marvel hero.
Cynthia Erivo has expressed her desire to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Storm, the iconic weather-controlling mutant from the X-Men. Fresh off her acclaimed role as Elphaba in Wicked, the 38-year-old actress shared her dream during an interview with the National Board of Review.
“I really want to play Storm,” Erivo said, referencing Ororo Munroe, a role previously portrayed by Halle Berry and Alexandra Shipp. She emphasized her interest in exploring the character’s depth and inner turmoil, believing there’s potential for a richer portrayal.
With Marvel’s plans to gradually introduce the X-Men into their cinematic universe, starting with Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), fans may not have to wait long to see Storm reimagined on the big screen. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has hinted at the timeline for the mutants’ official debut, making Erivo’s aspiration a real possibility.
Storm remains a beloved character, inspiring fans and even other stars, some of whom have dressed as the mutant for Halloween, earning Halle Berry’s seal of approval.
