According to reports, Barcelona contacts Manchester United in January about a surprise deal for the 27-year-old sensation.

Barcelona is reportedly targeting both Marcus Rashford and Xavi Simons, with potential moves involving both players on the horizon.

For Rashford, Barcelona has made initial contact with Manchester United regarding a loan deal with an option to buy for £35 million. The 27-year-old has fallen out of favor at Old Trafford under new manager Ruben Amorim, who has left him out of the matchday squads in recent games. Rashford, whose form has declined after a stellar 2022-23 season, is reportedly interested in a new challenge and testing himself in a new league with a club like Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Barcelona is also pursuing Xavi Simons, a former academy player who is currently impressing on loan at RB Leipzig from PSG. The 21-year-old has been in excellent form, with 13 goals and 17 assists in 54 games since joining Leipzig in 2023. While Barcelona is interested in bringing him back to the club, Simons is also on the radar of top clubs like Manchester United, Manchester City, and Liverpool. Despite a failed approach from Manchester United in the summer, Simons’ performances have continued to attract attention.

These potential moves underline Barcelona’s ongoing efforts to strengthen their squad with high-potential players, but Manchester United may face tough decisions on both fronts.
