Controversy Erupts as Wide Receiver Brian Williams Jr. Receives Notre Dame Offer

This is a big recruiting class for wide receivers coach Mike Brown as he tries to bring in some elite pass-catchers to Notre Dame. The Irish have one wide receiver committed in the 2026 class, Dylan Faison, the younger brother of current Notre Dame receiver Jordan Faison. The staff is looking to add three or four wide receivers in this class, and they recently expanded the board with a new offer. Brian Williams Jr., a 6-4, 185-pound prospect out of Lake Mary (Fla.), is the latest name to watch as the Irish continue to build their 2026 class.

Williams is a physically gifted receiver who excels in contested-catch situations, using his strong hands and impressive frame to dominate 50/50 balls. Despite his size, he moves well in space and already has an established chemistry with current Notre Dame quarterback commit Noah Grubbs, his teammate at Lake Mary.

When asked about his overall recruiting experience, Williams shared that things are progressing well.

“The recruitment process is going very well so far,” Williams said. “The schools that are really standing out to me right now are none in particular, but just the schools that are really showing me love and support.”

While he remains open in his recruitment, the Irish appear to be positioning themselves as a strong contender moving forward. Williams has high praise for Notre Dame and plans to visit in the near future.

“My thoughts on Notre Dame are very strong,” he stated. “I’m definitely going to make an effort to get up there and visit.”

A trip to South Bend will be pivotal in furthering the connection between Williams and the coaching staff, and solidifying Notre Dame’s place as a contender for his commitment.

Though his contact with Notre Dame’s staff has been limited thus far, Williams is excited to build relationships with wide receivers coach Mike Brown, head coach Marcus Freeman, and offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock.

“As far as relationships go, I can’t say too much on that due to the fact I haven’t had time to talk to them much yet, but I’m definitely looking forward to building with them,” Williams said.

With time, Notre Dame’s staff will likely make a strong push to land Williams, especially given his skill set and connection to Grubbs.

When it comes to choosing his eventual landing spot, Williams has a clear vision of what he wants in a college program.

“I want a school that is going to develop me and truly does want me there. I want a school with a family-type environment,” he emphasized.

Notre Dame’s emphasis on player development and its strong locker room culture could make it an ideal fit for Williams’ priorities.

Williams closed by expressing his admiration for Notre Dame’s academic and athletic prestige.

“Notre Dame is an amazing school with amazing academics and an even more amazing football team as displayed this year,” Williams noted. “Definitely excited!”

As Notre Dame continues its search for dynamic wide receiver talent in the 2026 cycle, Williams stands out as a prospect to watch. His size, playmaking ability, and chemistry with Grubbs make him a prospect to track for the Irish moving forward. A visit to South Bend could go a long way in further strengthening his interest in Notre Dame and potentially setting the stage for a commitment down the road.
