Nicola Coughlan says she’s “completely shocked” to receive her first nomination for a solo SAG award.
Nicola Coughlan has received her first solo Screen Actors Guild Awards nomination for her role as Penelope Featherington on Bridgerton. The 37-year-old actress was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series. The Bridgerton cast also earned a nomination for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, a category they were also nominated for in 2021.
Celebrating the nomination, Nicola shared her excitement on Instagram, calling it “a very lovely early birthday present!” She expressed her shock and gratitude, thanking the SAG Awards and showing pride in her Bridgerton family. Nicola’s birthday is on January 9, making this nomination even more special.
She is nominated alongside Kathy Bates (Matlock), Allison Janney (The Diplomat), Anna Sawai (Shōgun), and Keri Russell (The Diplomat). The Bridgerton cast is competing against the casts of The Diplomat, The Day of the Jackal, Shōgun, and Slow Horses.
The 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards will stream live on Netflix on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at 8 p.m. ET, with Kristen Bell as the host.
