Oscars 2025 Nominations Announcement Delayed Amid Los Angeles Wildfires, Voting to Be Extended

The announcement of the 2025 Oscar nominations is being delayed due to the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles. Academy voting, which began on Wednesday (January 8), has been extended to accommodate members who may be affected by the fires.

According to a letter obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, the voting period, initially set to end on Sunday (January 12), will now close at 5 p.m. PT on Tuesday, January 14. This two-day extension has shifted the nominations announcement from Friday, January 17, to Sunday, January 19.

In addition to the delay, other Academy-hosted events scheduled for the coming days have been canceled or postponed, as have various Hollywood productions and events.

Despite these changes, the 2025 Oscars are still set to air on March 10 on ABC, with Jimmy Kimmel returning as host.
