Fitness influencer and gym chain owner Miguel Angel Aguilar tragically passed away on December 21, 2024, following a harrowing three-month battle after being shot during a robbery in Los Angeles. Aguilar, who was 43 years old, was well-known for his dedication to fitness and his growing presence online, with tens of thousands of followers and gyms across Southern California and other states.
His team shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram, writing:
“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our founder and CEO, Miguel Angel Aguilar. After a courageous three-month battle following the tragic incident that took place on September 13th, 2024, Miguel peacefully passed away on December 21st, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones.”
The incident occurred when Aguilar was followed home by four men and confronted in his driveway in an attempted robbery. He was shot in the face during the encounter, leading to a critical fight for his life that ended three months later.
Law enforcement has since apprehended three suspects in Northern California in connection with the robbery and shooting. They now face charges of murder, attempted robbery, and assault with a firearm. If convicted, the suspects could face life imprisonment.
