According to reports, Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho is eager to sign a 30-year-old teammate of Cristiano Ronaldo in January.

Jose Mourinho is reportedly interested in signing Aymeric Laporte from Al-Nassr for Fenerbahce, according to Fichajes.net. Laporte, who joined the Saudi club from Manchester City in the summer of 2023 for £23.6 million, has been impressive this season, making 17 appearances and scoring three goals. However, his contract with Al-Nassr is set to expire at the end of the next season, and with no new deal in place, he could be available for a move next year.

Mourinho is looking to strengthen Fenerbahce’s defense and sees Laporte as an ideal candidate to help organize the team from the back. The Spanish international, who won Euro 2024 with Spain, has vast experience and has enjoyed a successful career at Manchester City before his move to Saudi Arabia.

Despite Laporte’s significant wage package at Al-Nassr, Fenerbahce’s sporting director Mario Branco is reportedly eager to find a solution for the transfer. However, the financial aspect could pose a challenge for the Turkish club.

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo, Laporte’s teammate at Al-Nassr, is currently on a winter break and will return to action on January 9, 2025, when Al-Nassr faces Al Akhdoud in the Saudi Pro League. Ronaldo’s contract with Al-Nassr expires at the end of the current season, but rumors linking him to Fenerbahce have been dismissed by journalist Fabrizio Romano, who suggests Ronaldo could stay at Al-Nassr beyond 2025.
